If you had, your window title should have had «» at its end, however within the screenshot that you have posted, that’s not the case. Perhaps as quickly as there’s a call to read a pixel it switches to a double-rendering mode where 2 bitmaps are maintained, and most rendering is copied into both. One is displayed, and link color depends on whether the link has been visited. I suppose the pref added by the patch is beneficial for a small fraction of customers, and possibly for a larger number of customers if security experts inside or outside Mozilla clarify the issue.
- I don’t think this is ready to essentially always be the case, although in some circumstances I suspect it would nicely be (and notice you shouldn’t consider my assertions as authoritative).
- If changing «background-color» is considered to be safe, then altering «background-position» should be safe as properly.

In the following game cnn.com did present on the listing list of visited. Scripts and pictures loaded from websites to which you will be logged in. This would be useful to reposition a CSS sprite picture depending on the visited state. E.g. make the color of an ornamental «arrow» picture match the text color. NO, I don’t want web pages to have the ability to play with visited status — I can just imagine on-line shops seeing what I’m shopping for from their competition and using that as commercial monitoring. Perf difference can be triggered solely by adjustments in component’s positioning, and text-decoration can have an effect on it nohow.
Property blocking and the loading photographs from the stylesheet. Worked round through the use of a «privacy mode» where the global historical past just isn’t affected. The content on a page should not be able to learn the actual color of hyperlinks. But then if the reads of particular person pixels impact rendering you get a recursive problem and it would take an enormous quantity of resources to completely render. 2) It would still be potential for an attacker to learn details about the user’s history at different websites based on where they click and do not click. For example, and attacker could have a huge hyperlink that says «Click here» and solely customers with a certain history entry would see it and click on on it because it blends in with the background in any other case. That they’ve the option of utilizing a processor as clear as CCBill is borderline gorgeous.
That stated, I suppose that velocity is no actual argument, given the threat that this bug represents, as proven by a quantity of public proof of ideas now. For typical pages, «noticeably slower pageload» expensive, if I recall the numbers proper for what number of historical past lookups occur. I’ve made a proof of concept of this and it works fairly well. Now that Firefox 3 stores 90 days of history, it might possibly dig up a great variety of pages I’ve visited.
Here’s a patch for a structure.css.visited_links_enabled pref, defaulting to true. In other words, trade some design possibilities for privacy, whereas preserving the complete functionality of exhibiting visited links. 1) As some individuals already suggested, just act as if those links were not visited, whether or not it’s true or not. Certainly the most secure path, and the best to implement, but once more, we lose the performance of knowing whether or not they’re visited or not… For each visited URL, make a background request to a server that may fetch a copy of the URL and return an inventory of hyperlinks on that web page.

I don’t have the time now to work on this extra, however you presumably can fork my code above to check this text-decoration concern. Because outline doesn’t move the content material in any respect, it could only change a colour. // solely override a simple colour with another simple color. In proven truth that makes the principles even simpler to explain to customers. If you’ll quite hold things as you at present have them, can you explain why in a bit more detail? What I’ve described makes most sense to me, and is behavior that’s extra easily described to finish users I suppose.

Now please, until you’re adding something _new_ to this bug, do not touch upon it. There are not any restrictions on taking screenshots of your own site and analyzing the info, unless I missed a latest behavior change in fact. SafeHistory stops you seeing what links you have visited in a quantity of circumstances whenever you want to know, and allows the web page to see in a quantity of cases when it should not. Or perhaps the option to solely allow color changes should also disable pixel reads. Jordan, a hashkey-based query into the DB, searching for a string which is indexed, could be quicker than parsing the URL and finding out the area, yes.

OK, then possibly we should not be concerned about any cross-site information leaks … If a consumer distrusts a site, he will use non-public searching mode. 1) It would nonetheless be potential for an attacker to assemble a convincing phishing page that looks like Wells Fargo to a Wells Fargo buyer and Citibank to a Citibank customer. An attacker may simulate the images as a grid of 1 pixel hyperlinks, and simulating the textual content ought to be easy. JavaScript might be used to make certain that the consumer would not accidentally click by way of to the true web site, and as soon as the credentials have been stolen it might be straightforward to attempt them at each websites. You simply want to select the one with some seductive massage and other services. If altering «background-color» is taken into account to be secure, then altering «background-position» should be protected as properly. This is why it issues me that there seem to be no plans to backport the fix as far as I was able to find out. I do not suppose this is ready to essentially at all times be the case, though in some circumstances I suspect it might well be (and observe you shouldn’t think about my assertions as authoritative).

You can discover the most effective pleasure, not additionally stepping outdoor or be near the canal and likewise get pleasure from a super buddy. I personally share your concern about how long it will take to get into the sector. A patch like this could actually go through a full beta cycle and by the point we went via that process it would look more like the Firefox 4 time frame. Plus we’d myfreecsm spend plenty of time on backporting as a substitute of of engaged on performance or different options. So as I said it is a query of trade-offs, that are by no means simple. I’d also prefer to avoid using fallback colours in cases the place they weren’t before . // solely the visitedness of the relevant link ought to influence style.
I can change back and forth between teacher view, demonstration digicam, audience view, presentation slide deck or video, etc… and it’s seamless. I can activate lower-thirds to give context to a video or a speaker, and by running it through a digital camera, it seamlessly plugs into almost any conference medium whether it’s Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Blackboard, Adobe Connect, etc…. In a nutshell, it really lets me show off the content without requiring expensive know-how and having the expertise management what can occur.
